Sandakan Wildlife Safari With Gomantong Caves Escapade

DAY 1        SANDAKAN/SELINGAN ISLAND (Lunch/Dinner)

At about 0945hr, meet at Hotel Lobby or meet upon arrival at Sandakan airport. Transfer to jetty for boat ride to Selingan island. It takes approximately 1 hour fs boat ride to the Island. Upon arrival, check into chalet and lunch at Cafeteria, then free at own leisure, eg. Swimming or snorkelling. After dinner, wait for the rangers signal to see turtle laying eggs. Reburied and releasing the baby turtles. Overnight at Chalet

DAY 2        SELINGAN/SEPILOK /SUKAU (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

0700hrs depart for Sandakan . After breakfast, drive for approximately 30 minutes to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation center. Proceed to the free roaming area feeding platform. 1000hrs Feeding of Orang Utans. At this center, observe manfs closest relative gthe Orang Utanh being rehabilitate to become wild in their natural habitat, and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo. Depart Sepilok and transfer to jetty in Sandakan. Take an hourfs boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary where you will take your lunch at Abai Jungle Lounge. This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. After lunch, cruise up river to Sukau village in search of primates expecially the Endemic Proboscis Monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Arrive Sukau, check in at Kinabatangan Riverside lodge. Late afternoon, an option to take another river cruise to Menanggul River, a small tributary of the Kinabatangan. Return lodge for dinner and overnight at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. . 

DAY 3        OX-BOW LAKE/GOMANTONG CAVES/RIVER CRUISE/SUKAU (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Wake up by the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Early morning, take a river trip to the Ox-Bow Lake to observe wildlife and experience the early morning river ambience of the longest river of Sabah. Return lodge for breakfast then free at own leisure. After lunch, proceed to Gomantong Caves to explore one of the fascinating caves in Sabah. The caves are home to the bats and swiftlets. At these caves, nest of the swiftlets are collected for the famous Chinese delicacy, the birdfs nest soup. Return to the lodge and late afternoon, another river cruise to search for more wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.

DAY 4        TRANSFER OUT BY BOAT/ SANDAKAN (Breakfast/Lunch)

After breakfast, cruise down by boat back to Sandakan. Upon arrival at jetty, visit to the central market and then proceed to Airport or back to Hotel in Sandakan.

NOTE : 

1)      Both the Turtle Island lodge and river lodge at Sukau are simple accommodation (share basis). .

2)      Sabah Parks allow only camera of unaided flash to take photograph of turtles.  Video cameras are NOT ALLOWED.

3)      Visitors are not permitted to walk around the island on their own between 6.00pm to 6.00am.

Suggested things to bring :  Light clothing, short & long pants, sandal, swimming attire, comfortable shoes, raincoat, personal toiletries, towel, light jacket, insect repellent & torch.
